Me and my four Goldens, they are a huge part of my life, my best friends and they bring such great joy to my soul

Bridgett my oldest golden retriever at nine has had a small tumor on her mammary gland for a couple of years. The vet assured me he didn't really think it was cancerous and just to watch it for growth. Through the two years, I have taken her in on numerous occassions to just make sure that we weren't dealing with anything cancerous and sent on my way with the same suggestion of just watching it. Finally in January of 2012 we went back and thankfully got to see another doctor. She aspirated this tumor and sent cells off to a lab to have the cells analyzed. Test came back not necessarily cancer but suspicious. So at that time I was told I should have it surgically removed and if anything we caught it early. The first week of February 2012 I dropped my princess Bridgett off to have her surgical procedure and happy I was finally hopefully getting rid of any negative health issue she may have. Two hours later I got a phone call from the vet with the bad news. Chest x-rays done before surgery showed it had already metastisised to her lungs. I was devastated and shocked. Other than a little weight loss in the two year time frame (and we were sure this was from the strict diet we had her on) she is playful and active and happy. She has no clinical signs of having cancer. I immediately took her for a second opinion and was promised she is in no pain. So our journey begins here. I have decided against chemo or radiation or a possible surgery to remove the tumors from her lungs as I believe this would just take any quality of life she has left. With the help of my daughter who has a few of Bridgetts offspring we have found many holistic approaches that I am desperate to try. I have put my faith in God and my hope and faith in natural healing. I hope to be writing this diary with a happy ending for the next couple or more years. And so our journey begins.......

She is my friend, my partner, my defender, my dog. I am her life, her love, her leader. She will be mine, faithful and true,to the last beat of her heart. And I will be hers, faithful and true, with every beat of mine.

Man's Best Friend

I had to share this....
 And God created dog
The Story of Adam & Eve's Pets

Adam and Eve said to God, 'Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us.'

And God said
to them, 'I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love me even when you cannot see me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves..'
And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.   And it was a good animal.   And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve
, and he wagged his tail

And Adam said, 'Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom
, and I cannot think of a name for this new animal.'

And God said, 'I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a
reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG.'

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve, and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, 'Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well.'

And God said, 'I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always worthy of adoration.'

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.
And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.
And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased . . .And Dog was happy. .

And Cat didn't give a darn one way or the other..

Essiac Tea, The Newest Potion

Well not that things seem very different with Bridgett but she has had her first episode of coughing.  This is not what I wanted to hear in the middle of the night.  Trying not to get those negative feelings of things going bad.  It's hard sometimes not to worry. But I know I have to keep my faith. I haven't stopped my research on natural cancer cures and have read a lot on the use of Essiac Tea and Turmeric for fighting cancer in people and canines.  I have wanted to try the Essiac Tea for a few months now but was hesitant with all of the other things I am doing. I made the purchase today and am in the process of preparing it for her first dose tomorrow morning.  I have also incorporated an organic turmeric into the daily regimen of potions. The four ingredients of the Essiac Tea is Burdock Root, Slippery Elm Inner Bark, Sheep Sorrel and Indian Rhubarb Root.

Promoters claim Essiac strengthens the immune system, improves well-being, relieves pain, increases appetite, reduces tumor size, and extends survival. Some also claim that it cleanses the blood, promotes cell repair, restores energy levels, and detoxifies the body. The herbs contained in Essiac are supposed to relieve inflammation, lubricate bones and joints, stimulate the stomach, and eliminate excess mucous in organs, tissues, lymph glands, and nerve channels.
It was originally claimed Essiac worked by changing tumors into normal tissue. Proponents claimed a tumor would become larger and harder after a few doses of Essiac, then would soften, shrink, and be discharged by the body.

Check out the link for the history of Essiac Tea. Wish us luck!

Bridgetts Vet Visit Update

Busy, Busy, Busy with no time to update lately but the good news is Bridgett is doing great. The last vet visit was encouraging. She did indeed gain the weight I spoke about before and keeping it on. The vet was very pleased with her condition and is still very puzzled with how well she is doing with the size of her lung tumors.  As if I wasn't confused before, although I left the office happy with the good review, I also left with more questions because of some other findings. Going against my initial decision of more testing, I allowed more x-rays to be done.  I guess my curiosity got the best of me, hoping to see a miraculous disappearance of the tumors.  The vet said that Bridgett's lungs and heart sound great, however her stomach seemed alittle swollen. With no pressure at all from the vet cause she has full respect of my decision in the care I choose to give to Bridgett and totally agrees with the choice I have made.  But her curiosity was getting to her too cause the only x-rays done before did not show exactly where these tumors were lying in the lungs and with her belly being swollen created some concern.
I gave her permission to re-xray Bridgett so we would have a better idea of what we were dealing with.

The new x-rays showed that the largest tumor is lying on the very right side of her right lung against the body wall, the smaller tumor is right below her heart but not pushing on her heart.  With an extra view, another large tumor was found sitting right beside her liver. This is why her belly appears swollen.  The mammary tumor has not grown at all and actually appears smaller.

My very informative and compassionate vet took lots of time to go over her thoughts and her professional opinion with me.  This was great, though there will always be unanswered questions about the actual primary source of the problem.

Bridgett was first diagnosed with mammary cancer with mets to the lungs.  The issue here is that normally the primary source of the cancer is larger then the secondary.  This is not the case with Bridgett.  Her mammary tumor is much much smaller than the other tumors. Without further testing, there is no way of knowing if the new tumor found is in the liver or beside the liver. Primary lung cancer is very rare in dogs.

To sum it up, without further testing we don't really know where the cancer originated from. But the vet assured me that she does not have stomach cancer.

Though I am more confused, we are having great days and Bridgett appears well. The vet even told me that had she examined my dog before she saw these horrible looking xrays she would have thought someone gave her the wrong x-rays.

We continue on with our so called potions and enjoy everyday to the fullest hoping to take Bridgett for her next vet check up....come autumn.

Scheduled Trip To the Vet

Bridgett is spunkier than ever these days. Something is working I just don't know what.  Bridgett has always had chronic ear infections, however this past month her ears have cleared up and look much better.  She has had so many infections that a cauliflower like growth has been so large in her one ear that it made it almost impossible to get medication in there.  At the time we had scheduled her for surgery and the removal of the mammary tumor the doctor was also going to surgically remove this growth while she was already under. Since that didn't happen the growth remains.  But is definitely has shrunk.  Also the fatty tumor/cyst above her collar bone is completely gone now and has not started to grow again. After thinking about this and talking with my daughter we have decided it must be a combination of the so called potions we are using by boosting her immune system enabling her body to fight off such infections. I was going to wait a little longer, but I have decided to take her into the vet on Friday for just a well check up.  Hoping to get a good report!

Budwig Diet Testimonials

I had to share the following testimonials of people who has used the Budwig Diet Protocol for their cancer.  This is amazing! I know it may seem unbelievable, but please remember these testimonials are from regular people who belong to a yahoo group that I follow. Yes I said YAHOO Group.  So this was not taken from anykind of website trying to sell a product. And these are just a few. Wow, this just drives me to keep on keepin on with the approach I am taking with Bridgett and her cancer.

Feb 2012, Janice B. still posts regularly. Her husband is healthy.

gotten along just fine with only the advice from the files here and Budwig's
cookbook. His cancer was 5cm in diameter when it was first found, and that was
2 years and more than 4 months ago. He is living a normal life now and feeling
good at 72 years of age. The cancer was 1/2 its original size when he had his
last ultrasound in May. We fully expect it to continue to shrink, although he
wouldn't mind going on exactly as he is indefinitely, since he has no nausea,
rashes, pain, or any other symptom that would mean liver failure. His blood
tests all show normal liver function, too. [message 86635]
